Terms of use
The rules for using Above, and what the Above Plus subscription means.
Last updated October 5, 2026
Agreement
These terms cover your use of the Above app and this website, both provided by Studio Ropewalk, LLC, a North Carolina company (“we”, “us”). By using them, you agree to these terms. The app is licensed to you under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement; these terms add to it, and where they conflict about the license itself, Apple’s agreement controls.
Using Above safely
- Watch where you are. The camera view makes it easy to forget your surroundings. Do not use Above while driving, walking near hazards, or on roads, roofs or slopes where you could fall.
- Never look at the Sun through the camera, a telescope or binoculars, or point the phone camera at it for long.
- Not for navigation or safety. Above is for curiosity and hobby use. It must not be used for aviation, navigation, collision avoidance, emergency response or any decision where a wrong position could cause harm.
About the data
Positions, routes, photos, weather, forecasts and schedules come from third parties and from calculations that approximate reality. They can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and aircraft and satellites are estimated between updates. We make no promise that any object is where Above shows it. Data credits lists the sources and their terms, which also apply.
Above Plus subscription
Above Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly or yearly. The price and any free trial are shown in the App Store before you subscribe, and can vary by country.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, or when a free trial ends.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel it any time in your Apple Account settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Apple handles payments and refunds; request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Acceptable use
Use Above only for yourself and only as the app is designed to be used. Do not reverse engineer it except where law allows, remove its credits, or copy or resell its data. The server at api.viewabove.app exists to serve the app: do not call it with scripts, scrape it, or try to disrupt it.
Ownership
The app, this site and their design are owned by Studio Ropewalk, LLC. The data and images they show belong to their respective owners and are used under the licences in data credits. Aircraft photos are the property of their photographers.
Privacy
How Above treats your data is described in the privacy policy.
No warranty and limited liability
Above and this site are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss caused by relying on what Above shows, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that cannot be limited, including consumer rights where you live.
Changes and ending
We may update the app, the service and these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and continuing to use Above means you accept it. We may stop offering a feature or the service. You can stop using Above at any time by deleting it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
